Big Chicken Founder Shaquille O’Neal to Keynote 2022 IFA Convention
Basketball Legend, Celebrity Philanthropist and Entrepreneur to Offer Insight on Leadership and Growth Within Franchising Space
LAS VEGAS – Famed professional basketball legend, accomplished entrepreneur and founder and owner of Big Chicken, Shaquille O’Neal, will share a vantage point (and it’s not just because he’s 7-foot-1) that is like no other as the keynote speaker of the 2022 International Franchising Association (IFA) convention this February.
A cultural icon and celebrated business man, O’Neal has reached levels of success that few entrepreneurs have accomplished before given his personal brand and franchise investments. His latest venture is his own brainchild, fast-casual concept Big Chicken, which he founded in 2018 out of a passion for sharing high quality fried chicken, side dishes, and desserts inspired by flavors from his childhood. The brand’s powerhouse leadership team and aggressive growth strategy has led to significant expansion, with several multi-unit agreements in progress and openings in highly trafficked venues across the country and at sea. With his speech at the IFA convention, ‘Making Your Brand Larger Than Life,’ O’Neal will offer one-of-a-kind insight into his philosophy on leadership and driving business success.
“I am so thrilled to be speaking at this year’s IFA convention as we are making big moves with a brand that truly encompasses who I am and what I value as a business owner,” said O’Neal. “Big Chicken is a passion project, and I’m excited to share more about my story and the wisdom I’ve accrued throughout my many years in franchising. The IFA convention is the premier event to connect with so many accomplished franchisors and entrepreneurs, so I’m grateful for the opportunity.”
O’Neal will discuss how his partnership with JRS Hospitality, a Las Vegas-based ownership group, and Authentic Brands Group, the world-renowned brand development organization behind companies such as Sports Illustrated, Elvis Presley and Forever 21, have played a part in the rapid growth of the Big Chicken concept.
Big Chicken currently has locations open in Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Seattle’s Climate Pledge Arena, metro-New York’s UBS Arena and on two Carnival Cruise ships. With dozens of locations in the development pipeline, the brand’s current franchise growth plans include key U.S. metropolitan markets and select countries.
Ideal franchisees are multi-unit operators who trust and understand the established system Big Chicken has in place and have the capital to open several units. Restaurant experience — whether traditional or not — is preferred, but not required. With significant interest from new owners, franchise investors will have the advantage to join a brand on the cusp of worldwide expansion.
